hi, we’re
The Clever References (˶ᵔᗜᵔ˶)ﾉﾞ
We make weird music for people
who give a damn.
We also made a live CD called
LIFE IS CRUEL! I LOVE YOU! and we'd like to send you a physical copy. For free!
(but please help with shipping + handling!)
OK, but who ARE you?
Uhh well…we're from left to right
Sam, Vidusha, Ash and Janset.
We work normal-ass jobs, make music together, and generally do the things people do when they've decided to start a band instead of a weekend sports club.
We were just cool making sick tunes in our bedrooms and playing to family and friends in open mics and dive bars but then we got…*shudder*…
Viral.
And then one of our songs, Tell Ben Kate
unexpectedly found its way to over
+2 million people on TikTok.
No big campaign. Just the internet being the internet.
The best part wasn't the views.
It was that some people stuck around.
They listened to the other songs.
They got what we were trying to do.
That's what this CD thing is about.
Finding more of you.
More of we. More of us.
People who want something real to connect over.
So these are some things ppl have said !
It's genuinely a wild feeling when something you make in a room with your friends ends up meaning something to a stranger. Maybe you'll be one of those people, too.
Wait. How does this actually work?
Hang on wait, I gotta go run an
errand real quick
(psst, play the vid hehe)
okokok, im back!
Where was I…
oh yeah!
1. You order the Live CD.
Hit the button, head to our Shopify store, and cover the shipping and handling. The record itself is free.
2. We pack it ourselves.
This isn't a faceless warehouse operation. It's us, fitting the Live CD packing and post-office runs around work and rehearsals. Very glamorous rock-star business.
3. We send it out to you!
A real physical copy of LIFE IS CRUEL! I LOVE YOU!
coming from four people in Melbourne
who are very excited that someone wants to hear it.
We're a small independent band,
so packing and dispatch can take a little time.
Sorry aaa
(｡>﹏<)(╥﹏╥)( >_< '')(ㅅ´ ˘ `)
By Live CD we really do mean Live.
Recorded at Russian House Melbourne,
in Fitzroy. No overdubs, just us in a room
banging out tunes…
and we got the vid to prove it!
…and thats all we gotta say.
We don't know if we'll be your new favourite band. But we believe the world gets better when people make things, share things, and find each other through the things they love.
So here's our invitation: a free copy of our CD,
from four actual humans who still believe in making
something good together.
Just cover shipping, and it's yours.
And who knows?
Maybe this is the start of a beautiful friendship.
